Kohaku Omakase Bangkok: A Luxury Sushi Omakase Experience in Thailand

分類:,

If you’re into Japanese omakase, enjoy watching chefs work up close, and like meals that feel quietly luxury without being stiff, this is one of those Bangkok spots I’d happily recommend to a friend. This visit was to Kohaku Omakase in Thailand, where we tried the OMAKASE–MATSU (12 courses). It’s a high-end sushi omakase experience, but the vibe is calm, focused, and surprisingly comfortable—no pressure, just really good food.

Location & Transportation

Kohaku Omakase is located upstairs at Ginza Thonglor, and the atmosphere is immediately on point. Once you step into Ginza and take the elevator up, the mood shifts—quiet, refined, and perfect for a luxury omakase dinner in Bangkok. The location is easy to reach by BTS or Grab, making it ideal for a relaxed, well-planned evening out.

The interior feels calm and high-end without being intimidating. Warm lighting, clean lines, and a classic Japanese counter setup make the space feel intimate and focused.

We sat at the counter, you can watch the chefs prep everything right in front of you. You can tell every step is done with care, and it really adds to the whole luxury omakase experience in Bangkok.

What we ordered

OMAKASE – MATSU / 12 Courses ★★★★★

They show the ingredients for the day and explain each dish casually, so it feels relaxed but still very serious about food.

Tsumami (Appetizers)

1. Sashimono Buri Wara Yaki (Straw-Grilled Yellowtail)

Lightly straw-grilled, so the first thing you notice is the smoky aroma. The fish itself stays tender and fresh, and the slightly sour sauce lifts the richness instead of covering it.

2. Agemono Shirako Tempura (Hokkaido Cod Milt)

This one surprised me—in a good way. It’s not the traditional tempura you expect. Once the staff explained it was Hokkaido shirako, I braced myself, but the inside was creamy and rich, with a deep, almost buttery oil aroma. No bitterness, just smooth indulgence.

Sushi

3. Kohada (Gizzard Shad)

Tender, soft, gently sour—this one really stood out. The acidity brings out the natural sweetness of the fish, and everything just clicks. Easily one of my favorites of the night.

4. Isaki (Grunt Fish)

Lightly seared on top, so you get that subtle roasted aroma first. Then comes the sweetness in the middle, and finally a clean, fresh finish. Very layered, very elegant.

5. Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper)

Silky texture with a delicate, light sweetness. It almost melts as you chew—simple, and refined.

6. Shima Aji (Striped Jack)

Great balance between firmness and softness. Rich umami without being heavy. This is the kind of sushi that feels comforting and satisfying at the same time.

7. Aori Ika (Bigfin Reef Squid)

Another favorite. Tender and smooth with a gentle sweetness and a clean aroma— with soft, graceful bites.

8. Aka Ebi (Red Shrimp)

Super sweet with a strong ocean flavor. If you love naturally sweet shrimp, this one hits immediately.

9. Hon Maguro Chutoro Shoyu Zuke (Marinated Medium-Fatty Bluefin Tuna)

I usually don’t love tuna—but this completely changed my mind. Deeply savory, medium-fatty, soft, and melty. The shoyu curing adds depth without overpowering the fish.

10. Bafun Uni (Horsehair Sea Urchin)

If you normally hate the strong smell of uni, you need to try this. Creamy, intensely sweet, and zero fishy smell. It’s rich but clean—honestly one of the best uni experiences I’ve had.

Soup

11. Asari Soup (Clam Soup)

Everything good about the ocean, concentrated into one bowl. Deep clam sweetness, clean broth, and incredibly comforting.

Dessert

12. Kasutera (Japanese Castella Cake)

A perfect ending. Slight crisp on top, soft and fluffy inside—two textures in one bite. The sauce isn’t overly sweet, just natural and gentle. Another favorite, and a great way to close the meal.
